Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at the Park

The Chastain Park Conservancy hosted close to 50 volunteers for the Hands On Atlanta Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.  Volunteers spread chips on the playground, raked leaves and handled general park clean up.  Each year, Hands On Atlanta organizes the event and mobilizes more than 3,000 volunteers in service to local communities, schools and nonprofits.

The event is organized in partnership with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center of Nonviolent Social Change, Inc. and this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement.  Hands On Atlanta provides access to service opportunities for thousands of volunteers in a variety of areas.  "We are pleased to be a part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service," said Ray Mock, Director of Operations for the Chastain Park Conservancy.  "The volunteers worked hard today on park clean-up and beautification."
