Our playground emerges Featured

Pinwheels spin in the breeze atop wooden stakes supporting orange construction fences. Within the 30,000 square feet that will become Chastain's exciting new playground,  heavy equipment scrapes the earth with giant claws and deposits tons of soil into idling dump trucks. Helmeted workers burrow to connect a restroom to sewage lines. A wall takes shape to hold back a freshly graded hill where two big slides and a treehouse will soon sit.

Playground equipment has been ordered, even as the groundwork continues in the summer heat. It will soon be fall and the dream of the last few years will become a reality. We remain on schedule for a December 15 completion date. There will be a playpod for litle ones, an adventure hill for the older ones. The scars of construction will give way to the luster of fresh grass, gleaming new play things and so much more. Best of all, the joyful sound of children's voices will fill the air.

Although the Chastain Park Conservancy has raised more than $2 million in cash and in-kind contributions, additional support is needed to finish the project.  We are grateful to our donors, big and small, but we need your help.  If you have not made a contribution to Play Chastain, please do so. If you know of an individual, a company or a foundation that might consider making a gift, please let us know that, too.  You can give by going to the Push for Play box on the chastainparkconservancy.org home page. We are building the most exciting playground in Atlanta and, perhaps, in the South.  We hope you will join us in this endeavor.
