Chastain Park is GREEN—with a recycling program for plastic bottles and aluminum cans. By now you have probably seen the large green and white recycling barrels next to trash cans throughout NYO, along the PATH, at the Tennis Center and the playground. The March 21 launch of the recycling program was a team effort led by the Chastain Park Conservancy and NYO.
Special thanks to Chastain Park Conservancy Board member Mark Root and Advisory Board member Sheri Kimmell for securing the Coca-Cola-sponsored recycling barrels and getting this program off the ground. The recycling program is an important part of the Conservancy’s commitment to sustainability of the park and will hopefully grow over time.
